Our wedding song, Beautiful

Sunday April 24th, 2011

I woke up in the center of the bed my dog cuddled at my knees, sunlight poured into my bed room. This is a good sign because whom ever said that rain on your wedding day is good luck was lying. I waited for my black berry to play its wake me up music and I jump out of bed. Today is the day the day I am going to get married.

The last song I recorded on my record "Richest Man In the Neighborhood" was a song I called "choose" it was a song that was written in the spirit of finding the RIGHT person. It was a song about choice, about not settling for the next person in the line up or the closet person to you at when you reach your mid twenties. (line up?) Also, I needed a song for my wedding that was coming up the next year and it fit but the lyric missed the mark slightly. The bottom line was the song needed to be changed so that it could be a song that my future wife would approve of.

Whatever could go wrong usually does when you are talking about something important. My experience with Sunterra was that way. Tux picked up.. check, car full of all the stuff we will need for the guests of our wedding.. check, food for the wedding.. not check. Some jokester wrote down that I would pick up my catering at 4pm instead of 9 am like I said. But, in their defense it was ready I just had to drive downtown, which made me half hour late. OH, and I should send them a bill for the speeding ticket I received on my way out of the city because if it wasn't for the trip downtown I would have missed that stupid camera van.

I had some time before I had to drive to the studio and record the vocals for all the tracks on my CD. I still didn't have the right lyrics for my wedding song. I drove to what I call my "writing nook". My Nook is off a highway just enough to be out of sight and then its just me and a back drop of mountains. On occasion the horses come over to have a listen, that is when i know I am on to something good. It was like a rush of water and I finished the lyric in the first 5 minutes and then I just payed it over and over.

I arrived at the Banff Springs hotel and told the valet my name. Mr. Vass, Albert will take you up to the fifth floor for check in and don't worry about your stuff we will take care of it. Its no big deal when the valet says ill take your stuff up when you are spending a weekend away. However, my car was so full of stuff I was the only one that could fit in it and it took them three trips to bring it all. I highly recommend a wedding at the Banff Springs though, it was GREAT!

It took two hours to record the vocals on all 10 tracks of Richest Man in the Neighborhood. Only moments before I arrived at the studio I finished the song that would become the song "Beautiful" and the song that my wife would walk down the isle to.
